Homework delayed gratification & the Stanford marshmallow experiment.

delayed gratification is the ability to wait in order to obtain something that one wants. E.g. "can I please play minecraft" "not until your homework is finished" (Delayed Gratification.)

The stanford marshmallow experiment is some studies on delayed gratification. The experiment was led by a psychologist named, Walter Mischel. He then became a professor at Stanford University. In the studies of delayed gratification a child was offered a choice between ONE small reward or TWO small rewards, if they chose two they had to wait an extra 15 or so minutes. The rewards were usually marshmallows. The testings showed that people that could wait longer for the better outcomes had better life outcomes this was measured by SAT scores, educational attainment, body mass index (BMI) and other life measures.

Homework AR week 1-2

Augmented Reality (AR)

The AR is used for:

Some cartoons
Sport games
Google Maps
And more

Augmented Reality is seen almost everyday some don't even know if they have seen it. Augmented Reality is also known as AR, AR is a real image, example a NCAA game shown below has got 2 examples of AR, the scoreboard/time and the yellow line marking the 1st down line. In real life if you were watching this game you would not see the scoreboard/time or the yellow line because they are not really there.
In this the AR is the scoreboard and the yellow line marking the 1st down.
In this the AR is the roads they places and the highway numbers.
This image is someone holding up an IPhone and telling the person directions and where/what everything is.

Things That Annoy Me:
  • My little brother getting me in trouble. When I do something like look at him funny he always goes and tells Mum or Dad and sometimes when I get lucky it backfires onto him. It is really annoying because I have done really nothing then I have to do some chore that should "make me wish I didn't do that" when that is nothing.

  • Breaking glass. When I do the dishes and I put something in wrong e.g. on the perfect angle on the side that has a crack in it it always shatters and it has to go in the bin and I don't like breaking things even though I have done it a lot.

  • The sound of polystyrene rubbing against polystyrene. When the sound of polystyrene rubs on polystyrene it makes my break crinkle and it makes my mouth go dry, because the polystyrene makes a horrible scratching noise and I really don't like it.

  • Reading books with a missing page, word or spelling/grammar mistake. In a few books i've read there have been numerous spelling mistakes.
